Applications for Membership of SCAR

I wish to draw your attention to a number of applications for SCAR Membership. They can be downloaded from the SCAR web site as follows (please click on the name of each applicant, which is shown in bold in the text below):

(i) Applications from Bulgaria and Ukraine to transfer from Associate Membership to Full Membership of SCAR.
(ii) Applications from Denmark and Portugal to attain Associate Membership of SCAR.
(iii) An application from the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA), a new Union Member of ICSU, to become a Union Member of SCAR.

The applications comprise signed letters from appropriate experts, accompanied by statements of the various research programmes and Antarctic interests of the applicants.

National Committees are asked to consider the applications, which will be considered as parts of agenda item 1 at the XXIX SCAR Delegates Meeting in Hobart during July 2006, when the Delegates will decide whether or not to admit these applicants as Members of SCAR.
