- SCAR REferenceAntarctic Data for Environmental Research (READER) aims to create high quality data sets of key variables for investigation of climate variability and change. There are currently 3 components:
- MET-READER - surface and upper air mean climate data
- OCEAN-READER - temperature, salinity and ocean current data from the Southern Ocean
- ICE-READER - basic data from the Antarctic ice cores (in preparation)

- Polar View - Earth Observation for Polar Monitoring: Polar view is part of the joint European Space Agency and European Commission programme called Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), which is developing a range of environmental information services primarily from satellite earth observations. The Polar View programme is now extending services to the Southern Hemisphere. The Antarctic Node of Polar View will initially focus on delivering near real time information to contribute to safe and efficient ship naviagation in sea ice. Operational services started in October 2006. More information about Polar View can be found at http://www.polarview.aq/ and http://www.polarview.org
