Practical Biological Indicators of Human Impacts in Antarctica
The objective of the workshop is to provide practical guidance to National Operators as they design long-term monitoring programs to assess the impact of science and operations in Antarctica. The workshop will assess the current state-of-the knowledge of biological indicators of human impact by considering experiences in Antarctica, the Arctic and temperate climates. The lessons learned will be cast within the special conditions encountered in Antarctica.
The workshop will produce a report and an informational paper for the next Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in June in Sweden. The web site is being constructed as an additional resource and suggestions, input, and contributions are welcomed. The web site is a "living" document and will be evolving as we approach the meeting.
Instructions are on the web site for travel and accommodation
and registration is open. All oral presentations are invited but attendees
are invited to
display posters, provide concept papers on a topic of their choosing,
and contribute to the construction of the web information resources.
