Diagram of the inter-relationships of the programmes which constitute GLOCHANT. The left-hand column summarises the four science foci for GLOCHANT. Individual programmes are represented as horizontal bars, and their extent indicates the affiliations with the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), SCAR and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).

Notes:

1. Affiliations with WCRP activities are tentative at present.
2. The ASPeCt programme also has very close linkage with the iAnZone affiliated-programme of SCOR.
3. SCAR is a co-sponsor of the Southern Ocean regional studies of the JGOFS and GLOBEC programmes.
4. A new terrestrial ecological programme to replace BIOTAS is being developed by the Working Group on Biology.
