SCAR Action Group on Acoustics

The Acoustics working group aims to study the relationships between cetaceans and the noises made in the ocean by scientific activities in the Antarctic. To that end a sequence of reports has been prepared:

1. Report on Impacts of Marine Acoustic Technology on the Antarctic Environment, 2002.

2. Information Paper on Marine Acoustic Technology and the Antarctic Environment (IP78), presented to the Cape Town session of the XXVII Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in 2004.

3. Working Paper for presentation to the Edinburgh session of the XXIX Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in 2006: SCAR Report on Marine Acoustics and the Southern Ocean (WP41)
