Bio-sketch of Dr Mercy Borbor-Cordova

Dr Borbor is an Oceanographer with an MSc and PhD in Environmental Science. She is an associate researcher at the Instituto Antartico Ecuatoriano and a visiting scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (USA). Dr Borbor has been studying the biogeochemical fluxes of coastal ecosystems and the interaction between human activities and coastal and marine systems. Dr Borbor's expertise includes Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Auditing and Environmental Health & Safety inspections of Industry including power barges and cargo ships. Dr Borbor is collaborating with the Environmental Monitoring and Management of the Admiralty Bay (ASMA No. 1), at King George Island. As part of this group a long term monitoring program is developing which include environmental indicators for oil marine pollution, ballast water and fouling.
