Pushchino Permafrost Conference 2019

The Institute of Physico-Chemical and Biological Problems in Soil Science is pleased to announce that the traditional permafrost conference will be held 15-18 April in Pushchino, near Moscow, Russia. The theme for the 2019 conference is "Solving the puzzles from cryosphere".

The topics will cover a broad range of cryospheric questions:

  • Regional aspects in polar and mountain areas
  • Paleoreconstructions
  • Carbon in permafrost
  • Cryosphere as ecosystem: microbiological, biotechnological and astrobiological aspects
  • Permafrost soils
  • Permafrost hydrology, hydrogeology and glaciology
  • Physico-chemical peculiarities of frozen ground
  • Geophisycal investigations in permafrost areas
  • Antarctic permafrost and soils
  • Philosophical ideas about past, present and future of cryosphere

We are planning to organize round tables in the following areas:

  • Permafrost mapping
  • Permafrost engineering
  • Permafrost soils classification

We will speak English and Russian, simultaneous English translation will be provided.

Abstracts (not longer than 4000 characters with spaces) will be published and available on the conference website as well. We need your name and presentation title to request funding from RFBR - please register on the website before 30 December 2018. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1 March 2019.
