Dates: 26-28 June 2019, British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge UK.

The latest agenda can be found here (updated 25th June 2019).

Registration

Registration has now closed.  However, there is still an opportunity to view the talks remotely. To register for this and find out further details please contact Amanda Wynne (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Oral and poster presentations

The duration of oral presentations is 15 minutes with 5 minutes available for questions and changeovers. To help smooth running of the sessions, speakers are encouraged to send their talks at least the day before their presentation (please send by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). If this is not possible then bring it along on a memory stick before your session. It is important that talks are presented from conference room PC to be viewable by remote participants. The screen is 16:9 aspect ratio, but 4:3 will work. When giving your talk be aware that some participants will be joining the oral sessions remotely by invite on Zoom.

Poster presenters are expected to give a 2-minute oral introduction (max 2-slides) to their posters during the first half hour of the poster session. Please provide these slides in advance if possible to aid quick changeovers. The poster display boards are 85cm in width and 175cm in height. An A0 portrait size is ideal.

Background

The aim of this workshop is to help ensure that the Antarctic and Southern Ocean climate science communities make a significant contribution to the IPCC 6th Assessment Report (AR6). Contributions on model-observation comparisons and evaluation of CMIP6 21st century predictions and projections from decadal to century timescales are encouraged. However, relevant non-CMIP6 simulations, such as Antarctic CORDEX, are also welcomed. In addition, a session dedicated to science-policy discussion is planned.

The format will be in the style of a small conference, with participants giving oral and poster presentations on their research.

Acknowledgements

The workshop is supported by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) as part of the AntClim21 Scientific Research Programme (see https://www.scar.org/antclim21/). ECR travel support has also been provided by CliC (http://www.climate-cryosphere.org/). The British Antarctic Survey (NERC) have provided support to host the event.
