Due to the unpredictable situation with COVID-19, the conference will be postponed until late spring 2021.

The Russian Federal Service on hydrometeorology and environmental protection, the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) and the Russian Antarctic Expedition (RAE) look forward to seeing ANTARCTICA 2020 participants in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, in September- October 2020.

The conference will mark the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 50th anniversary of the deep drilling project at Vostok Station. While inspired by these historic events, the conference will cover most areas of modern Antarctic science, thus giving everyone from the southern polar community room to present their research. We hope that taking part in the conference will offer you opportunities to meet colleagues, find new friends, and perhaps to discuss new collaborative projects that will be no less extraordinary than those of the past.

ANTARCTICA2020 is open to everyone with an interest in Antarctic science and exploration.
We invite specialists in the following fields to participate in the conference:

Antarctic geology and solid Earth geophysics
Geomorphology and paleogeography
Antarctic atmosphere and Southern Ocean
Space weather
Antarctic ice sheet dynamics and mass balance
Subglacial environments
Ice drilling and ice core science
Biodiversity, microbiology and ecology
Antarctic history and heritage.

The final programme and the conference sessions will be drawn up based on the abstracts that we receive.
