The diverse application of spatial information in, for example, location-based services, web-based virtual globes and mobile phone technology have heightened public awareness of the products produced by the geospatial community in recent years. The Congress may therefore be regarded not only as a platform for geospatial science and technological research, but also for cooperation with other specialists who utilise the tools, data, processing techniques, models and visualizations. Such cooperation has brought about new advances and opened doors not even imaginable a few short years ago. The Congress will be a place to present achievements, develop novel ideas, connect with colleagues, and to meet new friends.
