“The Cold is Getting Hot!” Scientific Symposium: From Arctic to Antarctic, 24-25 February 2022

coldisgettinghot webposterIn the framework of its Polar Initiative, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, and International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) in collaboration with the Oceaographic Institute present the Scientific Symposium: From Arctic to Antarctic ‘The Cold is Getting Hot!’ 

The symposium will bring together around 100 key polar scientists and stakeholders at the Oceanographic Museum and will include round table discussions on how the polar regions are being hit hard by climate change, how the consequences of these changes will be felt far beyond the poles and why this is of direct concern to all of us. This symposium is eagerly awaited as it will bring together the Arctic and Antarctic scientific communities in a single dialogue.

This event, which will take place in person and will also be available to stream online, is organised in collaboration with the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation and is recognised as an action of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development.

The event will be held in person at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and available to watch online through a live stream.

The timings for the event will be:

  • 24th February – 9:00 to 16:30 CET
  • 25th February – 8.30 to 16:00 CET

  • Session 1: Understanding polar changes
  • Session 2: Contribution of polar changes to global climate
  • Session 3: Effects of polar changes upon global human societies and economies
  • Session 4: Management responses in the face of uncertainties
