The 41th annual the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) Meeting started in Hobart, Tasmania, earlier this week.
Antarctic krill, Euphausia superba, is a keystone species that helps to hold the fragile ecosystem together. A new Editorial, published in Science, discussed the importance to better understand krill biology and krill interaction with its predators and improved management of krill fishing. It stresses the role of the SCAR Krill Expert Group (SKEG) to support providing biological information critical for CCAMLR’s krill management efforts.
