Jiangtian Xu

Jiangtian Xu, who has a Master of Public Policy from the Korea Development Institute School and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Macau, is currently a PhD student at the University of East Anglia undertaking research on the EU’s External Civil Aviation Policy.  He is one of the four 2017 University Association of Contemporary European Studies (UACES) Scholars, which is the highest possible honour for a PhD student of European Studies.

Jiangtian was a visiting researcher at the National University of Singapore and at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and has already received a number of grants, scholarships and fellowships from Yale University, the United Nations University and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Jiangtian is interested in the EU’s policy towards Antarctic issues, and in particular towards environmental protection and territorial disputes, as well as regime making in the Antarctic. Jiantian was chosen as the Individual Council Member of APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists), was elected as one of the three National Committee Coordinator of APECS, and a member of the Working Group of APECS Workshop for SCAR 2020 in Hobart, Australia.
